Music is always a Work In Progress for me.... Here you will find snippets from some recordings that are yet to find their way onto a cd as well as other projects that I have been working on or have worked on.
Some are completed recordings, others are just demos at this stage.
Enjoy the preview! Louise
Balloon
This is my latest song... fresh off the press... so it is obviously my favourite:-)
It took me forever to write exactly what I needed to say - I guess this is the start of my next album....
Brydon Stace produced this for me and spent much more time on it than he should have for what I paid him - thankyou, AS USUAL, Brydie.
Sometimes It Rains
I have been working for some time now with a very talented songwriter/producer called Graham Hunter - it's a "he writes 'em and I sing 'em" kind of relationship. He comes from a dance music background and I am thoroughly enjoying the chance to get to sing this kind of genre. We have amassed quite a body of songs now and are threatening to take it to a live audience. Standby folks!
Constellation
This is me singing a lead vocal on Brydon's new library album. I had a bit of a hand in the lyrics but it is mostly Brydon's handywork. Love this track.
Still Hoping
This is a quick demo of a song that I wrote with Gary Pinto and Brydon Stace. I hope this song finds its way onto a CD one day. I still don't know how we managed to get all 3 of us in a room at the same time with all of our schedules but we managed it and I am so glad that we did.
When It's Right For You
Written with Brooke McClymont and Anthony Egizii, this is demo produced by Anthony and sung by Brooke (you can hear me in the background somewhere on some bv's).
The song has had a few name changes, one being "The Right Side Of The Road" - ah, what's in a song title?
The young girls from the Life Changing Experiences Foundation Sister 2 Sister programme have adopted this as their theme song and recorded it with Sony's Amy Pearson. Lovely to see that songs with inspirational lyrics find their way to their rightful places sometimes.
Merry Go Round Written with Bill Risby. Audiences love this song when we do it live.
You Got It Goin' On
This session was such great fun - I remember us all having a great laugh at my Macy Gray approach to this vocal. This is Sam Hawksley, Bill Risby and I getting together to write and record a pop song for Sam's catalogue. Hilarious. I have never performed this live but I am going to ... one day.... that's a promise :-)
La Vie Continuera
This song is to go on Bill Risby’s new album “Around the World” to be released through Instinctive Travels. I get to sing in French – great fun!
When I Get There
This is the song that Anthony Callea recorded for his first album. It was a double platinum debut and went straight to Number One. It was my first ever major label cut so this was the turning point for me where I didn't just write songs for myself. I actually wrote the song specifically for Anthony with the help of the very talented Vince Pizzinga. This recording is the demo, kindly sung by the gorgeous Brooke McClymont. You can hear Anthony's version on iTunes.
The Shadow of Your Smile
Produced by Bill Risby - this is a very different treatment to an amazing old song.
Spring
The wonders of the internet helped me develop a relationship with Japanese producers "Light for Lines". They emailed me a track and asked me to come up with a melody and lyrics for it. Sort of a Cafe del Mar kind of vibe. I love trying to work in different genres and I hope to get to do more of this kind of thing in the future.
If You Were Mine
This is the demo for the track that was written with St Paul Peterson (The Time), Rob Arthur (Five For Fighting) and Brydon Stace. it's just a good little pop song that hopefully some young teen star will pick up one day. Was so great to work with St Paul - funny and talented!
Ready
This is the track that the 2005 Australian Idol Top 13 released as their single. I was the Music Producer at the time on Idol, so it was great to be able to write something for the kids to sing. Written with Brydon Stace and John Foreman, the song did very well in the charts and is still downloaded now - especially to people's phone... go figure!
